Surah Az-Zalzalah
The Earthquake · Medinan · 8 verses
Az-Zalzalah (“The Earthquake”) is the 99th surah of the Quran, a Medinan surah of 8 verses in juz 30, page 599 of the Madani mushaf. Read it below in the Uthmani script with the Saheeh International translation, and play any verse recited by Mishary Rashid Alafasy.
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
- 99:1
إِذَا زُلْزِلَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ زِلْزَالَهَا ﴿١﴾
When the earth is shaken with its [final] earthquake
- 99:2
وَأَخْرَجَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ أَثْقَالَهَا ﴿٢﴾
And the earth discharges its burdens
- 99:3
وَقَالَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ مَا لَهَا ﴿٣﴾
And man says, "What is [wrong] with it?" -
- 99:4
يَوْمَئِذٍۢ تُحَدِّثُ أَخْبَارَهَا ﴿٤﴾
That Day, it will report its news
- 99:5
بِأَنَّ رَبَّكَ أَوْحَىٰ لَهَا ﴿٥﴾
Because your Lord has commanded it.
- 99:6
يَوْمَئِذٍۢ يَصْدُرُ ٱلنَّاسُ أَشْتَاتًۭا لِّيُرَوْا۟ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ ﴿٦﴾
That Day, the people will depart separated [into categories] to be shown [the result of] their deeds.
- 99:7
فَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ خَيْرًۭا يَرَهُۥ ﴿٧﴾
So whoever does an atom's weight of good will see it,
- 99:8
وَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍۢ شَرًّۭا يَرَهُۥ ﴿٨﴾
And whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it.
